The Technology Student Association (TSA) celebrates students who jump in head-first to make waves in technology and engineering.
The honor society, Kappa Mu Epsilon, was founded in 1931 by Dr. Emily Kathryn Wyant for the sole purpose of promoting mathematics excellence for undergraduate students and to “develop an appreciation for the beauty in mathematics.”
Founded in 1904 by five cadet officers at The University of Wisconsin, The National Society of Scabbard and Blade is an organization dedicated to the United States military officers through a variety of programs. Their mission is “...dedicated to developing aspiring and current military officers that emulate the Five Star qualities while fostering strong joint-service relationships.” Their organization’s vision is that their members will "redefine the standard of excellence for all military members."
Founded in 1941 by a new director of the Police Science Academic Program at Washington State University, Alpha Phi Sigma aims to “promote excellence in scholarship and performance” in criminal justice studies. It is the only accredited national honor society for criminal justice and serves areas such as police, courts, corrections, forensics, nonprofits, and higher education.
There’s no prom, spring break, senior skip day, or yearbook signing … and there’s certainly no traditional in-person graduations this May and June. Those of us who had the true senior experience can remember the excitement leading up to graduation -- it’s unmatched, and because of that, we really feel badly for The Class of 2020. While our team is still actively fulfilling orders for graduation ceremonies, whether virtual or in the future, we’ve seen many others stepping up to provide The Class of 2020 with some unique ways to celebrate their accomplishments this spring.
We’ve previously discussed honor societies dedicated to students excelling in the medical fields who are wrapping up their studies and heading straight to the front lines. Today, we’re talking about an honor society for students who are just as important but may be seen more behind-the-scenes: Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Honor Society.
Founded in 1869 by four law students at the University of Michigan School of Law, Phi Delta Phi is the oldest legal organization in continuous existence, even predating the American Bar Association. It was created as a means to champion students who choose to dedicate their lives to a just legal system.
