Sigma Lambda Chi: International Construction Honor Society
Founded in 1949 at Michigan State University, Sigma Lambda Chi “offers students the opportunity to be recognized locally and internationally for their academic accomplishments as a construction major.”
They stand by three objectives listed on their website:
- to render service to the major field of study. This is accomplished by active student participation in tasks and events that affect the construction program that houses the local Sigma Lambda Chi chapter.
- develop good relations among campus, industry, and the public. Undertaking projects which further this purpose is expected of members of Sigma Lambda Chi.
- recognize outstanding professional individuals in construction. Sigma Lambda Chi has honorary membership classifications that can be bestowed upon individuals who deserve special recognition because of their contribution to construction education or some facet of the construction industry.
In order to qualify for membership, students must be in the top 20% as undergrads and top 30% as graduates in the construction field. Sigma Lambda Chi currently has 68 chapters and over 22,000 members. You’ll see them stand out on graduation day wearing their green and gold honor cords.
As a reminder, our team continues to operate with a modified business solution, complete with remote and isolated order processing locations. Our goal is to safely deliver honor and recognition gear to schools and institutions to have ready for their students once graduation dates have been reworked. We understand the importance of graduation regalia and what it means to students and faculty and want graduates to mark their accomplishments in a way in which they deserve. No matter what your commencement ceremony looks like this year, our honor and recognition gear means the same and looks just as great!
