New York School of Interior Design: New York, NY

Founded in 1916 and located in Manhattan, the New York School of Interior Design is considered one of the top schools to attend if you’re looking to jump right into the design space. The private, not-for-profit college gives students a very personalized education, with the student-to-faculty ratio being 10:1 and class sizes averaging 13 students. NYSID offers undergraduate and graduate programs in interior design, fine arts, sustainable interior environments, and lighting. Not looking to go through a full program? NYSID offers a one-year certificate program centered on the basics of interior design.

If you’re looking to join a community of innovative and creative individuals while gaining a top-notch education, FIT is for you! Founded in 1944 to train students specifically in fashion design, FIT provides award-winning education in roughly 30 different areas of the arts. Founded in 1887 by American industrialist Chris Pratt, the Pratt Institute originally set forth to provide affordable, quality education to working class individuals and was among the first to admit students regardless of race, gender, or class. Pratt Institute evolved with the times -- students initially learned furniture-making, architecture, and design but has since expanded to incorporate liberal arts, sciences, fashion, robotics, and many more.

The Interior Design program at the University of Cincinnati works hand-in-hand with its Architecture program and offers both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree paths.
