Cap and Gown Glory: Throwing a Memorable Graduation Party

Cap and Gown Glory: Throwing a Memorable Graduation Party

Melissa W.

Graduation is a momentous occasion, a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. A celebratory party is a fantastic way to mark this achievement, surrounded by loved ones. But with so much to consider, how do you throw a graduation party that's both perfect and unforgettable? Don't worry, we've got you covered!

Plan Like a Pro:

  • Early Bird Gets the Grad Bash: Don't wait until the last minute! Booking venues and finalizing details take time. Aim to start planning at least 2-3 months beforehand. But, don't fret! Some of the best parties were planned on a whim!
  • Budgeting Basics: Graduation parties can add up quickly. Determine a realistic budget and stick to it. Consider creative cost-cutting solutions, like potlucks or DIY decorations.
  • Guest List Goals: Keep your guest list manageable, taking into account venue capacity and budget. Consider close family, friends, and important teachers or mentors.

Venue Vibes:

  • Location, Location, Location: Think about your guest list and the party atmosphere. Will it be a backyard bash or a rented hall? Consider accessibility for all ages.
  • Themed or Not to Theme: Themes can add a fun touch, but aren't essential. If you do choose a theme, center decorations, food, and activities around it.

Festive Flair:

  • Decorate with Distinction: Balloons, streamers, and school colors are classics, but don't be afraid to personalize! Incorporate photos of the grad or their achievements.
  • Food Fun: Finger foods, a burger bar, or a potluck are all crowd-pleasers. Consider dietary restrictions and offer a variety of options.

Graduation Day Shenanigans:

  • Activities and Entertainment: Plan some fun activities to keep guests engaged. Yard games, a photo booth, or a bonfire are all great options.
  • Musical Memories: Create a playlist that reflects the grad's taste and gets people moving. Consider hiring a DJ for a more party-like atmosphere.
  • The Grad's Moment: Plan a special toast or speech honoring the graduate's accomplishments.

Keep Weather in Mind:

  • Rain or Shine, the Party Goes On: Do you live in an area where the weather can be unpredictable (like where our offices are in New Hampshire)? Make sure you plan ahead and have outdoor coverage for your guests! Renting a tent is a great way to keep the party going without everyone getting soaked! It also provides a great relief from the sun if the weather is perfect!

Remember: The most important ingredient is celebrating the graduate's achievements and creating lasting memories. With a little planning and these tips, you can throw a graduation party that's the perfect send-off for the next big adventure!

Pro Tip:

  • Save Your Septic!: Worried about a lot of foot traffic in your house and strain on your septic tank from guests? Rent a port-o-potty! They arrive clean and it gives your guests a funny conversation piece! We've rented them for our larger parties and added classical music with an AM/FM radio inside for a bit of extra humor. The graduation party we attended this past weekend had one that was decorated on the inside with funny pictures of the grad!
